The quaint picturesque town of Bodega sits 5 miles west of Freestone on the Bodega Highway. It is located in between Bodega Bay and Sebastopol.
Like much of the area, Bodega was first home to the Coast Miwok tribes. However, the town itself was named after a Spanish explorer named J.F. de la Bodega. Bodega is most known for the Church of St. Theresa de Avila which was featured in the widely popular Alfred Hitchcock movie "The Birds". It was also the subject of a black and white photograph by the famous Ansel Adams.
Today the town consists mainly of tourist attractions such as the Church, the Watson Schoolhouse, local artisans, an art gallery, coffee shop, and the local hangout, The Casino. The Bodega Seafood, Art, and Wine Festival held in August is widely popular as well.
